BRIGHT flashing lights stunned residents and lit the evening sky in blue and green as power went down across the area.

The flashing lights were spotted along Southbourne and Christchurch at around 10pm last night.

Hundreds of residents took to social media, searching for the cause of the strange lights, power cuts and humming noises.

John O’Donnell commented that road lights went off in Southbourne and heard a buzzing noise while walking his dog.

Erin-Lucy Keogh said she saw ‘weird flashes of blue, red and white’ before her TV suddenly turned off.

Other residents said that their technology mysteriously went down in the evening after seeing the lights.

Some joked that they thought Halloween had come early and were glad to know they were not being spooked by ghosts.

A live feed camera in Hengistbury Head, ran by Parks Foundation, caught one of the moments on video.

Residents near Swanage have reported witnessing lightening in the area last night however, those who saw the incident are determined that it was not natural weather.

National Grid have confirmed that they are not aware of any issues in their technology.

An unusual light sighting was also spotted in Dorset skies on Monday evening, highlighting a row of more than 20 white spots.

The sighting was in fact not shooting stars or aliens, as some suspected, but Elon Musk’s project Starlink.

The technology, which uses around 5,000 satellites, is used as part of a UK Government trial to connect rural homes and isolated area to better internet service.
