A MULTIPLE Olympic gold medallist will feature at the return of a long-established free expo.

Cyclist Ed Clancy OBE has won three gold medals at the games in the team pursuit on the velodrome over his career.

Avid cyclists will get the opportunity to meet the rider at the Primera Expo in Bournemouth, which returns after stopping over the pandemic.

Taking place at the Bournemouth International Centre on Saturday, October 28, the free event will feature some of the world’s leading bike brands.

Bournemouth Echo: The Expo stopped due to the pandemic but is returning this month.

Ed said he was ‘really looking forward’ to the expo.

“I’ve been hearing about Primera through my work with CAMS [a cycling accident management company],” Ed said.

“Both businesses are champions for cycling and are very much regarded as staples of the UK bike scene. I’m excited to meet them at the expo, along with other like-minded folk in attendance.

“Can’t think of a better way to spend a Saturday than enjoying all things bikes.”

Organised by Primera Sports, which has bike shops in Charminster and Parkstone, the expo ran for 11 years before the pandemic, welcoming more than 5,000 people each year.

Joe Temple, company director at the business, said the event was ‘a way of saying thank you to our customers for supporting Primera over the years’.

“We are also holding a mega raffle with a fantastic range of prizes from the brands attending,” Joe said.

“All proceeds from the raffle are being donated to two of our charities, Dorset Mind and The Steve Bernard Foundation.”

Visitors can see the latest equipment from some of the top brands in the business, including Pinarello, Haibike, Cannondale, Specialized, and Orro.

Managing director of Orro, Paul Butler, said: “We are really happy to see the return of the Primera Sport Expo and looking forward to meeting customers at this busy event.

“Primera Sport has been a key, premium retailer for Orro Bikes since its inception 10 years ago and is a destination store for Orro Bikes and its growing customer base.”

Jordan Frampton, sales manager for American bike brand Cannondale, said the brand will be bringing some ‘very special’ bikes to the expo, including bikes ridden at the Tour de France.

“The Expo is a fantastic way for both loyal and potential customers to view the latest & greatest bikes available,” Jordan said.

“We are lucky to have a very close relationship with Primera, longstanding advocates of Cannondale.

“Supporting this event over the years has always and continues to be a pleasure.”

Doors open to the expo at 10am on Saturday, October 28.
