A CHILDREN’S football team has been given new sponsorship by a national housing developer.

Poole Town Football Club has been given a £10,000 sponsorship from Cala Homes, the developers who were recently given the thumbs up to build 285 homes in Merley.

The donation will go towards the club’s children’s initiative, which provides football coaching and equipment to children in Poole.

Cala’s community pledge covers a range of tailored engagement activities such as volunteering, learning programmes, bursaries, and donations.

Richard Gale, director of Poole Town FC, said: “We’re especially proud of our Kids Initiative teams, one of which has managed to get to a County Cup Final in its first year, so it’s great to see the children thrive given the opportunity.

“For Poole Town Football Club, every donation really counts. We’re arguably the second biggest team in Dorset with probably one of the worst grounds in terms of facilities, and it’s a long-term goal of ours to upgrade the club’s home.”

Kevin Flint, senior land manager at Cala Homes, added: “This donation will mean a great deal to the kids that will benefit from it, and we can’t wait to follow the teams’ progress.”
