POLICE are hunting three men who searched a garden with an axe and baseball bats before stealing cash from a car.

Police received reports of the men shining torches into a garden in the Colehill Lane area of Wimborne on Friday, September 29.

The trio were spotted at around 3am and are said to have been in possession of an axe and baseball bats.

They were disturbed by the occupants and left in a silver estate vehicle.

However, a quantity of cash was taken from the victim’s car.

Police constable Matthew Cutler, of Dorset Police, said: “Searches were carried out, but the vehicle was not located.

“I am appealing to anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious in the area around the relevant time to please get in touch.

“Also, I would like to hear from anyone who may have captured any footage of the suspects either on home CCTV or dashcam.”
