A BURGER business run by a family of foodies – Flaming Peaches is Trader of the Week.

Flaming Peaches has become known for its mind-blowing burgers and street-food-inspired snacks.

Couple Laura and Matthew Davey began the business around ten years ago from their home in Wimborne.

Matthew said: “We bought a 1950s Citroen H Van and converted it into a small kind of food truck, and then converted part of my garage into a tiny kitchen.

“We were cooking from there, doing smoked meats and pulled pork - that sort of stuff.

“Then we took the truck out on the road. We haven’t really looked back.”

Flaming Peaches has a permanent home in Nuffield Industrial Estate in Poole, but still keeps a food truck which travels around the surrounding area.

The menu has also hugely grown and offers a variety of delicious burgers, brunch, sides, milkshakes and desserts.

Matthew said: “Not everyone knows we’ve got a unit in the industrial estate. We’ve got a fantastic menu there – and a lovely brunch menu – and we’ve got some great staff.

“It’s not just like the burger bar down the road.”

Discussing the menu, Matthew said: “From my point of view, I really want the customer to be challenged to make a decision. I don’t want it to be an easy decision. I want them to sit down and say ‘I don’t know what I want because it all looks delicious’.

“Everyone enjoys the double bacon cheeseburger, it’s always going to be a winner, and then the Matty D’s classic and the Korean fried chicken.

“They’re all really popular dishes we’ve kind of homed over the past five or six years.

“We pop on the odd special once a week which people get really excited about. We bring back the old classics.

“We make our burgers really nicely as well. People think they’re unhealthy, but actually, we don’t use a really fatty blend of beef. We have our own patties made for us. We go to 5 per cent fat so they’re leaner, and there’s more flavour.”
