FIREFIGHTERS were called to a Bournemouth hotel on Sunday afternoon to rescue a car which had been reversed into a ditch.
An elderly woman had accidentally put her Hyundai i20 hatchback into reverse and sent it into the ditch from her parking space at the Norfolk Royale Hotel in Richmond Hill, Bournemouth town centre.
The rear wheels of the blue car had become stuck on the edge and needed specialist help from men and a winch.
Two crews from Westbourne and Redhill Park carried out the rescue and the team winched the stranded car with rope attached to the back of the fire engine.
People looked on in worry and concern as the car was hanging over the edge.
Eventually, the stricken car was freed from the ditch and the woman was safely out of her car by around 4pm.
Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "We received a call at 3.51pm yesterday afternoon about a road traffic collision in Richmond Hill, Bournemouth.
"Crews from Westbourne and Redhill Park attended the incident which involved a single vehicle, stuck on the embankment of a car park.
"The driver was uninjured, but unable to self-rescue as they couldn’t open the door. Firefighters used a winch to assist the driver from the vehicle and our stop came in at 4.26pm."
