A stunning boutique hotel in the New Forest is under new ownership.

Spot in the Woods, a Grade II listed country house hotel in Woodlands, has been sold to Hannah Passmore and Stephen Parker for an undisclosed figure.

Set within 1.5 acres of landscaped grounds the venue, previously known as Hotel TerraVina, offers a quiet spot in the Hampshire countryside with 11 bedrooms, and five shephed's huts.

The new buyers told the Daily Echo: “From the moment we drove into Spot in the Woods we fell in love with it, it has an amazing vibe and holds so many happy memories for so many people, we look forward to making more happy memories here.”

The hotel's 11 beautiful bedrooms have been recently refurbished and five shepherd's huts added to the accommodation on offer.

Spot in the Woods, in Woodlands Road, also boasts extensive public areas including an elegant dining/function room and covered veranda overlooking the delightful gardens.

Hillbrooke Hotels, which also runs another New Forest establishment - the Master Builder's House Hotel at Buckler's Hard, acquired the property in 2020.

Internationally renowned wine expert Gerard Basset and his wife Nina purchased it in 2007 following the sale of the Hotel du Vin Group, which he co-founded.

The couple's decision to turn the Hotel TerraVina into an exclusive B&B was announced in 2018, a few months after Gerard was taken ill, so the couple could focus on his care.

The family sold Spot in the Woods a year after his death.

Ed Bellfield, Regional Director at Christie & Co, who brokered the sale, said: "We are delighted to have sold this renowned New Forest hospitality business. The sale clearly demonstrates an improvement to the hotel transactional market in the last 12 months and we anticipate a further uptick in market activity during the remainder of 2023, driven by the private investor/operator markets for these sub-£10million assets.

We would like to congratulate the purchasers of Spot in the Woods who will no doubt continue to develop the successful reputation of the business.”
