THE world’s first car powered fete will be held in a Dorset village next weekend.

Hyundai is organising the event in Chettle which is situated around six miles from Blandford.

It takes place on Saturday, September 30, between 12pm and 7pm.

The event will take place across two sessions; one between 12pm and 3pm with the second held between 4pm and 7pm.

Chef and Saturday Kitchen presenter Matt Tebbutt will be the fete’s host and will also be flexing his culinary skills at the event.

A spokesperson for the event said: “With strong sustainability credentials and, after finding out that the village was missing out on its fete this year, Hyundai chose Chettle as the location for the fete.

“The unique event will be entirely powered by Hyundai’s Vehicle-To-Load (V2L) feature, which can take electricity from its EV’s to power anything, anywhere.

“Hosted by TV chef and broadcaster Matt Tebbutt, the concept is a visual representation of what the classic village fete could look like in the future, and the role innovation can play in throwing sustainable community celebrations.”

Highlights will include a digital maypole with spectacular lights to enjoy as the sun goes down, as well as old-fashioned games and stalls .
