Trains may be cancelled due to problems on a South Western Railway route.

Due to a signalling problem between Hinton Admiral and New Milton trains have been forced to run at a reduced speed on the line towards Brockenhurst.

Train services running through these stations may be cancelled, delayed by up to 20 minutes or revised.

These delays are impacting the Weymouth to London Waterloo route as well as eastbound between Bournemouth and Southampton Central.

Disruption is expected until 3pm today (Thursday, September 21).

A spokesperson for South Western Railway said: “We have been informed of a signalling problem between Hinton Admiral and New Milton. This means that trains will have to run at a reduced speed on the line towards Brockenhurst.

“Trains will be delayed through the area and some trains will be revised to run non stop between Bournemouth and Brockenhurst to minimise delays.

“We have sourced rail replacement transport to run between Bournemouth and Brockenhurst calling at all stations and this is expected to be in place from 07:45.

“For further information or onward travel advice please speak to a member of staff or use a station help point.

“We are very sorry for any delay that this may cause to your journey.”
