A COUPLE who fell in love in the departure lounge at Bournemouth Airport will tie the knot this weekend.

Lisa Skellon and Jamie Hobbs, along with a dozen of their closest family and friends, flew out of Bournemouth Airport on Wednesday, September 6, with TUI to Paphos in Cyprus where they will marry on Saturday, September 9.

Before they left, Bournemouth Airport staff presented the couple with a bottle of champagne at check-in and treated the whole wedding party to bubbly and pastries in the departure lounge where love first sparked almost four years ago.

Bournemouth Echo:

As reported, the pair fell for each other after their TUI flight from Bournemouth to Tenerife was delayed in November 2019 and they ended up mingling at the airport bar with friends.

The couple said it was “love at first sight” and their relationship blossomed.

Bournemouth Echo:

The following year, while waiting for a holiday flight to Lanzarote together, Jamie proposed to Lisa who was sitting in the same seat when they first saw each other in Bournemouth Airport’s departure lounge the year before.

Bournemouth Airport managing director Steve Gill said: “It’s not every day that a chance airport encounter by two complete strangers results in wedding bells so we were only too happy to help make this trip one to remember. We wish Lisa and Jamie every happiness in their life together.”

In recent weeks, Lisa and Jamie have been interviewed by various broadcasters and appeared on Steph’s Packed Lunch on Channel 4 with Steph McGovern.

Lisa said: “It’s all been a bit surreal to be honest but we’ve had the best time and have had a lovely welcome in the airport where it all began. It’s been nice to tell our story because it’s the second chance at love for both of us and we can’t wait to tie the knot on Saturday.”
