Adventure Wonderland’s decision to close most outdoor rides has provoked disappointment and upset among locals.

The family attraction announced its decision to close almost all outdoor rides at the end of summer following a surge in costs.

The indoor play area will remain open however, locals’ favourite rides will likely not return next season.

Hitting out on social media, residents have expressed their disappointment over the decision.

Marina Jane Ledwich commented: “I only went the other day with my eldest granddaughter, [who is] three years old and we thought it was lovely.

“So sad as I was looking forward to going again with my toddler grandson.”

Another reminisced saying, she spent ‘every one’ of her childhood birthdays at the adventure park.

Some visitors said they are open to the change however, others say the cost for admission is too high without the popular theme park rides.

James Penner stated that the Ghostly Galleon was his favourite ride and if it does not return then Adventure Wonderland will ‘lose a local visitor and a known regular friend’.

Sian Son-morri said: “If they lowered the prices they would have more local people attend, its actually quite expensive for what is there unfortunately.

“It won't survive once the rides have gone as that is the only thing that makes people go.

“So very sad, it's one of the only things that BCP area has to offer that isn't a crazy golf.”

However, Grace Forrest commented saying her daughters love the theme park and that they will be visiting to ‘check out’ the new changes.

A spokesperson for Adventure Wonderland said a steep increase in key costs meant the site would be ‘returning to its routes’.

The family attraction will host a simpler and more natural layout, with the maze remaining at its centre.
