MOTORISTS have been warned of disruption as Christchurch is set to be blighted by roadworks.

Upcoming works will see closures in the areas of Barrack Road and Fountain Roundabout over the coming weeks.

SGN are due to start nearly four weeks of planned works in Barrack Road on Monday, September 18.

There will be multiple phased lane closures along Barrack Road from Bailey Roundabout to Stour Road to facilitate a gas main replacement. These are as follows:

No right turn onto Clarendon Road from Barrack Road.

Manor Road will also be closed at its junction with Barrack Road throughout the works, which are expected to continue through to Friday, October 13.

Full Emergency Service access will be maintained, and access will be maintained to the Spar petrol station.

Diversions are in place for motorists.

CityFibre will also be carrying out works between Fountain Way and Fountain Roundabout from September 18 to 21, and from September 25 to 27.

Adrian Smith, partnership manager for Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole at CityFibre, said: "This work will take place between 7pm and 11pm and will require lane closures and traffic management measures, including a road closure on Sopers Lane, and a footpath closure between High Street and Sopers Lane. However, throughout the day there will be no impact to traffic as sites will be cleared at the end of each shift.

“CityFibre is investing £65m in transforming Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole’s digital infrastructure and bringing next generation full fibre connectivity to almost every home and business in the area. This is a major undertaking, which is why we are working closely with our build partner, local authorities and the council’s highways team to manage disruption as best we can and ensure works are delivered quickly, and always to our high standards.”
