A POP-UP restaurant is set to serve free food on Bournemouth beach over the Air Festival weekend.

Opening on Thursday, August 31, French cheese Boursin will be serving ‘restaurant quality’ meals on a ‘pay-what-you-can’ basis.

Great British Bake Off star Manon Lagrève has partnered with the cheese brand at the limited-edition bistro.

All donations made for the food will go to FoodCycle, a national charity that uses surplus food, spare kitchen spaces and volunteers to produce three-course meals for people at risk of food poverty and social isolation.

New research from Boursin found that 43 per cent of British people admit to wasting food at least once a week during the summer.

It also found that 56 per cent don’t know what to do with leftover food or ingredients.

A selection of dishes has been created using commonly wasted ingredients, using locally sourced Dorset produce.

Manon said: “This was a pleasure for me to think up these recipes for the beach-side Bistro, as I always have Boursin on-hand in my fridge to elevate dishes which I regularly create for my family and friends.

“The recipes I have created for the pop-up Bistro are inspired by being a French girl, but also super easy for everyone to re-create at home with leftovers you may have.”

The bistro will be located between Who Dares Gyms and El Murrino, between Thursday, August 31 and Sunday, September 3.
