A MAN was arrested on suspicion of being unfit to drive after police were called to Charminster last night.
Dorset Police received a call at 6.39pm about a possible drunk driver in a grey VW.
Officers attended the scene, with five patrol cars sighted near to the Dulux Decorator Centre on Charminster Road, at the junction with St Alban’s Crescent, at around 7pm on Friday, August 25.
A spokesperson for the county force said a man was arrested on suspicion of being unfit to drive and the vehicle was recovered, before officers left the scene at 19.37pm.
Nearby, emergency services were called at around 7.45pm to a two-car crash at the junction of Alma Road and Heron Court Road, involving a white Suzuki and a purple Ford.
A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: “There was a temporary road closure at the junction. One driver was taken to hospital as a precaution. We left the scene and the road was fully reopened at 21.45.”
As a result of the crash and road closure, Morebus services were forced to divert away from Alma Road, with the operator apologising for any inconvenience caused.
