A seven-year-old boy with a 'beautiful smile' and cheeky personality is desperate for a life-changing operation.

Harri Honeyfield spent his first three weeks fighting for his life in neonatal intensive care at Portsmouth Queen Alexandra Hospital.

He suffered brain damage at birth which left him with multiple organ failure.

In 2016, at six months, Harri was diagnosed with cerebral palsy and global development delay.

In 2018, at the age of two, he was diagnosed with epilepsy.

Harri has spasticity in his limbs and his motor functions are significantly impaired making it particularly challenging for him to move.

The little boy walks on tiptoes and has issues with his balance and coordination, meaning he often falls over.

His family, from Bournemouth, is nothing but proud of their brave son.

Mum, Andrea Honeyfield said: “[He] lights up a room with his beautiful smile and his cheeky personality.

“Harri has endured multiple medical procedures over his life to try to help him... [he] always [has] such a brilliant, no-fuss attitude."

Bournemouth Echo:

Now, a life-changing surgery is available for the youngster.

Andrea, 53, and Simon, 55, decided to turn to private care after the NHS didn't offer selective dorsal rhizotomy (SDR) surgery for Harri because he didn't fit the criteria.

The SDR surgery could permanently fix the spasticity in Harri’s legs, however, recovery can take two years.

Andrea added: “Being able to have flat feet and not having that pain in his legs is just going to be so amazing for him to do the things that he wants to do and to move around more frequently.

“I know it's going to be a really difficult few years, but in the long run, it will be worth it.”

So far, over £13,000 out of £50,000 has been raised for Harri’s surgery costs.

Half of the money will go towards surgery with the rest for therapy, equipment and rehabilitation.

A statement on the family's fundraising page reads: "He has already done the hard work to get him in the best shape for surgery and is ready to go but we need your help to make it happen. Please help us to give our beautiful, determined little boy this opportunity."
