POP legend Boy George sent a special message to a Poole care home resident.

Carers at The Lindsay care home in Branksome organised a surprise video for Charlie Eyre, 52, who has fond memories of meeting and singing with the Culture Club star in the 1980s.

Charlie has always had a love for music and used to sing in a band during her younger years. At the care home, the walls of Charlie’s room are decorated with pictures of Boy George.

To set up the surprise, Charlie was invited to an 80s-themed party in the home’s cinema room, where she enjoyed music and a glass of fizz with other residents.

Towards the end of the party, a video message from Boy George addressed to Charlie started playing on the big screen. In the video, the singer said: “You are an amazing, beautiful, triumphant human being and I love you.”

When asked about the surprise, Charlie said: “I had a wonderful time that was topped off with the video message.

“Since I had the once-in-a-lifetime experience of singing with him on stage, I’ve been the biggest fan. I am so grateful for the surprise.”

Care home manager Claudia Carvell added: “Seeing her face light up when she received the message from Boy George was incredibly touching.

“Organising tailored activities and surprises for residents is an important part of our job, as it’s a great way to boost well-being and show how much we care.”
