DISRUPTION to a road plagued with issues will come to an end later today when emergency gas work comes to an end.

Temporary traffic lights are currently in place in New Road, West Parley as SGN conduct emergency repairs to a gas main.

Traffic has been building up for a couple of days now as workmen dig up the road, but now SGN has confirmed that will all end by the end of the day.

Bradley Barlow, spokesman for gas distribution company SGN, said: “Earlier this week, we began work to repair our gas main in New Road, West Parley.

“Temporary traffic lights were installed around our work area to keep everyone safe.

“We have now completed our repair and road resurfacing is being completed today, with our temporary lights being removed later this afternoon.

“We’d like to thank the local community for their patience while we completed this urgent work.”

Morebus said it is experiencing delays on its 13 and 737 routes through New Road.

It said: “Still ongoing - severe delays at New Road Parley, again. This time again due to emergency SGN gas works and more temporary traffic lights.

“Buses are delayed by 30 minutes. We can only apologise for the ongoing delays to services in the area.”
