A SUPER rare and super hot family Ford Cosworth is to go under the hammer later this year.

A 1990 model of the Ford Sierra Sapphire RS Cosworth 4x4 will be featured in the Charterhouse auction in early October.

Admired by car fans across the globe, the ‘Cossie’ being auctioned has had just one owner since new after the owner wanted to replace his equally classic Peugeot 205 GTi.

Fitted with a 2.0-litre engine producing 220bhp, the Cosworth has only done 35,000 miles having been used sparingly.

And, what is a rare achievement for hot Fords of the eighties and nineties, the model up for auction has never been stolen or crashed.

At the end of 2022, just 275 Sapphire Cosworths were licenced on the road, with just over 1,200 being SORN'd.

Finished in the coveted Moonstone blue with a cloth interior, the fast Ford is estimated at £22,000-£24,000.

Auctioneer Richard Bromell said: “The Ford RS Cosworth needs no introduction as a high-performance car."

Charterhouse is now accepting further entries for this classic car auction, and for their specialist auctions of classic cars, collectors items, enamel signs and automobilia.
