ICE cream fans will be able to enjoy a classic 99 in Bournemouth for just 99p - for one day only.

Broadband provider TalkTalk will be selling the tasty treat at Horseshoe Common from 11am on Friday, August 11.

A TalkTalk spokesperson said: “The revamped Mr WiFFi ice cream van will be whipping up smiles in one of the UK’s most loved seaside towns, Bournemouth.”

They added: “In the 90s, a 99 ice cream famously used to cost 99p. It should cost around £2.27 today following the rise in inflation. However, in some parts of the UK, a 99 can now cost as much as £5, showing just how much prices have risen over the past few decades.”

TalkTalk said all profits from the ice cream sales will go to Bournemouth Foodbank.

Residents who come down to the Mr WiFFi van can also sign up to TalkTalk’s Full Fibre 150 package for just 99p for the first three months.

Becki Smith, general manager of Full Fibre at TalkTalk, said: “We’re aiming to make a sunshine treat more affordable as we rollout full fibre across Bournemouth.

“A family of five can pick up an ice cream from our Mr WiFFi van with change leftover from a fiver. Our value packed plans cover all bases and come with no hidden costs – just like our ice creams.”
