A SPORTS festival is returning to Boscombe beach for the third year in a row – but this time it’s bringing celebrities.

Bournemouth International Beach Festival will see more than 100 sporting teams take to the sand this weekend.

The free event will feature non-stop beach volleyball and soccer games, and extra entertainment for those watching at the sidelines.

Festival co-founder Joe Maxwell said: “We’ve got around 117 beach soccer teams, and then we’ve got a beach volleyball championship.

“We’ll also have activities like inflatables and trampolines there, and then we’ve got FTY Lab coming down who are Bournemouth based.

“It’s going to be a really good community event, for all the family.”

On Saturday, the event organisers will be hosting a ticketed ‘Sellebrity Charity Beach Soccer Match’ to raise money for children’s charities Matilda Foundation and My Shining Star.

A whole heap of stars has been lined up across three celebrity teams which will be playing against the ‘England All Stars’ on Boscombe beach.

Joe told the Daily Echo: “Callum Best will be there, and celebrities from Love Island and Googlebox, and presenters from Sky Sports and Talk Sports.

“We’ve also got England Boxing coming down, and the boxer Gabrielle Reid which is going to be quite big.”

Bournemouth International Beach Festival will take place across Friday 11, Saturday 12 and Sunday 13.
