AFC Bournemouth's Vitality Stadium was evacuated following reports of an “unidentified item” being found.

Police were called to carry out investigations at the grounds at around 1.31pm on Monday.

Following enquiries, it was established that the item was related to training at the grounds during the weekend.

The Daily Echo understands safety training was done at the stadium on Sunday and a fake device had not been taken away by mistake.

Police were called for security measures as a precaution, but everyone was back inside within ten minutes, it is understood.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: “At 1.31pm on Monday, July 24, Dorset Police received a report of an unidentified item having been found at the Vitality Stadium in Bournemouth.

“Following enquiries, it was established that the item was related to some training conducted at the grounds during the weekend.”
