The highly-anticipated Wonka film starring Timothée Chalamet which was partly filmed in Lyme Regis is set for release this December so here’s a list of other movies, TV shows and music videos that have been filmed in Dorset over the years:

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince – Abbotsbury Swannery – 2009

A short section of the sixth instalment of the Harry Potter franchise was shot at the swannery.

This was for a part shot at night with the tall reeds at the Swannery representing an outside area near The Burrows which is the Weasley's home.

Dunkirk – Weymouth and Swanage – 2017

There was plenty of excitement in the air when the filming for Dunkirk when the star-studded cast were spotted filming in Weymouth Harbour.

Cillian Murphy was joined by the likes of Tom Hardy and Harry Styles who was making his acting debut in the Christopher Nolan war film.

Yellow (Coldplay) – Studland Beach – 2011

With more than 923 million views on YouTube, the music video for Yellow, frontman Chris Martin can be seen walking along a very cold-looking Studland beach.

Nanny McPhee – Durdle Door – 2005

In the children’s fantasy film, Nanny McPhee, played by Emma Thompson takes the children she’s looking after for an outing at one of Dorset’s most famous landmarks.

Bedknobs and Broomsticks – Corfe Castle – 1971

Corfe Castle is the castle in the background of the town in Bedknobs and Broomsticks.

Star Wars Andor - Worth Matravers – 2022

Filming for the Star Wars series took place at Winspit Quarry near Worth Matravers.

The series was a prequel to the 2016 spin-off film Rogue One and follows main character Cassian Andor.

The ITV drama was first screened in March 2013 and became an instant hit, seeing tourists travelling from across the country to get a glimpse of the West Bay backdrop.

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang – Fleet Lagoon and Chesil Beach – 1968

In a few scenes from the 60’s favourite, you can spot the Fleet Lagoon and Chesil Beach in the background.

Ammonite – Lyme Regis – 2021

Lyme Regis played a huge part in the romantic drama, inspired by Lyme Regis palaeontologist Mary Anning and starring Kate Winslet and Siaorse Ronan.
