FIREFIGHTERS battled through the night after a blaze broke out in Boscombe.

Photos show the damage to the building in Florence Road, with smashed left smashed and holes appearing in the roof.

Crews from Springbourne and Christchurch were called shortly after 10pm on Saturday night and witnesses looked on as firefighters tried to extinguish the blaze.

The fire has now been extinguished but a crew remained at the scene on Sunday afternoon.

A Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue statement says: "At 10.13pm control received several calls to a fire within a derelict building, that was previously used as a care home.

"Crews from Springbourne and Christchurch attended initially, confirming the fire was confined mainly to the roof space.

"Multiple crews further attended to assist with extinguishing the fire.

"The fire was extinguished using 16 breathing apparatus, 3 main line jets, 2 hose reel jets and 1 aerial ladder platform."

There were no reports of any injuries.
