FOUR vehicles have crashed on a road inbetween Bournemouth Airport and the A338.

A large emergency services response is in Christchurch Road this afternoon (July 13) as they deal with the incident near Blackwater Junction.

The road is currently blocked and traffic is moving very slowly in the surrounding area.

Three people are being treated for injuries, two of which had to be cut free by firemen.

Witnesses are reporting three ambulances have attended as well as the fire brigade and Dorset Police.

A spokesman for the force said: "We received a report at 11.38am of a four-vehicle collision on the B3073 Christchurch Road near to the Blackwater Junction.

"It was reported that the road was blocked.

"Officers have attended, along with the fire and ambulance service.

"Three people are reported to be receiving medical treatment, we do not have any further condition updates at this time.

"Recovery for the vehicles is being arranged."

A spokeswoman for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "We received a call at 11.48am today with reports of a multi-vehicle RTC on Christchurch Road, Christchurch.  

"Fire appliances from Christchurch and Springbourne attended and on arrival found four vehicles involved.

"Two people were released from vehicles and left in the care of the ambulance service.

"The stop came in at 12:19pm and the incident was closed at 12:50pm."

Christchurch Fire Station, in attendance, said: "Crews from Christchurch and Springbourne are currently dealing with a four-car RTC on Christchurch Road, just past Blackwater.

"Please avoid the area as there are large tailbacks forming."

The spokesman for Dorset Police confirmed the vehicles were recovered and officers left the scene at around 1.25pm. No arrests have been made.
