Brownsea Island Nature Reserve remains closed after a suspected case of avian flu.
The incident was reported on June 16 after Dorset Wildlife Trust announced the immediate closure of the famed beauty spot.
A spokesperson for the Dorset Wildlife Trust said: “We have currently closed our area of Brownsea Island as a precaution, but until we have completed our investigation, we cannot provide any further comment on the situation.”
Brownsea Island is open to the public however the Brownsea Island Nature Reserve remains closed.
The trust has apologised for any inconvenience caused for would-be visitors and will provide updates when the probe has concluded.
Bird flu is an infectious disease which affects poultry and wild birds.
According to the government website, symptoms for birds include closed and runny eyes and drooping of the wings.
Ducks, geese and swans can carry the virus without showing any signs of illness.
However, other animals including seals, otters, wild dogs and foxes can also catch it.
Anyone who suspects bird flu in poultry or other captive birds, should report it immediately by calling 03000 200 301.
