“We ran out and saw the woman trying to pull herself to the back seat so that she could get out," she said.

“People from the tennis club came running out to help, then a car that drove past called the police and ambulance.”

Zoltan Horvath, a coach at the tennis club, saw the incident happen and rescued the driver out of the crashed car.

“I was on the mini-court and saw it happen so we ran over to help,” said Zoltan.

“We pulled the lady from the front seat to the back and then got her out of the car.

“We were worried that fuel was leaking so I ran back inside to get the fire extinguisher but luckily there was no fuel.”

Iford Lane was later re-opened at around 6pm on Tuesday (June 13) evening.

A spokeswoman for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue said: "We were called to Iford Lane at 4.16pm yesterday after a car collided with a lamp-post.

"One crew from Springbourne attended and made the scene safe. Our stop was at 4.54pm and we left scene shortly afterwards."
