A man has been charged in relation to a crash in the early hours in Bournemouth town centre.

Stanimir Stefanov, aged 24 and of Poole, appeared in the dock at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Monday, May 29.

Stefanov has been charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving and failing to stop after a collision.

The allegations relate to an incident in Exeter Road shortly after 1.30am on Sunday, May 28.

The defendant was remanded in custody and he is next due to appear at Bournemouth Crown Court on Thursday, June 22.

As reported, emergency services were called to the scene of a collision involving a silver Peugeot 307 and two pedestrians in Exeter Road at the junction with Exeter Crescent.

Police officers and paramedics attended the scene, while the air ambulance was also requested to attend.

The male pedestrians – both aged in their 20s – were taken to hospital for treatment. One of the men sustained serious injuries and his family has been informed. The second pedestrian was treated for minor injuries.

Police Constable Kier Dagnall, of the Roads Policing Unit, said: “We are continuing to investigate this collision and I would urge any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to please get in touch.”
