A FAMILY-FRIENDLY games venue is set to open in Poole this weekend and the Echo has had an exclusive first look.

High Score Arcades will open its doors to its arcade games offering at the Dolphin shopping centre in Poole on Saturday, May 27, with booking open now.

A range of amusement games have already been installed ahead of the first day, including the 'world’s biggest Pacman', racing games and the UK’s “largest super screen experience” with guests able to play on a 3.5m by 2m video wall.

Booking is needed prior to attending and guests pay £11.95 to enter for an hour of game time, with families of more than four having 20 per cent off and kids under five going in for free.

The venue is available to hire for corporate events and a capacity of up to 55 is available per session, with scope to increase to 70 in the future.

Aaron Gilbey, director of Amusements, promised “nobody will be bored” at High Score.

He added: “This business was started during Covid so it is really important for us to keep all our equipment clean and we will do so here before every session.

“Guests will be invited to stay in the waiting area and it’s great because it builds anticipation for the kids.

Bournemouth Echo:

“There is only one rule here and that’s no hogging the games and we also pride ourselves on having a wow factor.

“We made this to be acceptable to everyone in the family; you don’t have to be a gamer to have some fun here.

“We will also be doing sessions for SEN (special educational needs) where the sound will be kept to a minimum.

“We usually have a low turnover of staff here at this company too, which is good as it allows staff to get to know the customers.”

High Score is open Saturday and Sunday from 10am-8pm, Friday from 4pm-8pm and open every day of the week during school/bank holidays.

There will be no over-18 games such as slot machines or gambling.
