When you see a couple of hundred bands a year in every type of venue from arenas, festivals and small clubs it’s always nice to catch a band that you have not heard of before and have them immediately blow you away.
Well tonight that happened twice when both Teenage Dads and Lime Cordial took to the stage at The Old Fire Station.
The venue is putting on some brilliant gigs at the moment and this is another sold out night with the room feeling as though it was bursting at the seams.

First up were Teenage Dads who were playing the support slot but could easily have filled the venue on their own judging by the reaction of the crowd.

Formed in 2017 they delivered a great set of indie tunes that had the crowd in the palm of their hands.
An upbeat version of Video Killed The Radio Star supplied the sing along moment of the set but to be honest every song was just as good. A great start to the evening from a band that should go on to much bigger and better things.

Next up were Lime Cordiale who are in the middle of their current UK tour and seem to have really found their rhythm. They filled the stage and the crowd with a joyful energy that fizzed from one band member to the other and out in to the venue.
Opening with Money rapidly followed by Naturally and Can I Be Your Lover, all of which went down a storm.

The Divinyls’ I Touch Myself went down really well but the reaction to Inappropriate Behaviour was even better and the perfect lead into Colin which closed the main set on a more mellow note.

For the encore Waking Up Easy started semi acoustic and built to a crescendo then straight into the excellent up-tempo Temper which received the biggest reaction of the night.
Robbery may have been the final song but the evening was anything but.
There is nothing better than being at a gig where the connection between the band on stage and the crowd push the atmosphere to another level and tonight both bands did this making it one of my favourite nights of the year so far.
Let's hope both Teenage Dads and Lime Cordiale are both back soon, and if they are make sure you are there!
