REPAIRS to a gas leak have been completed in a busy road in east Dorset.

A gas leak was detected in Ringwood Road, Ferndown, earlier this week while SGN was carrying out repairs to its gas network.

Due to the location of the leak, SGN said four-way temporary traffic lights had to be put in place at the double roundabout on the junctions of Ringwood Road, Christchurch Road and Ham Lane.

Giving an update on Friday, May 19, a spokesperson for gas distribution company SGN, said: “Repairs are now complete and the road surface is currently being restored.

“All going well, the lights will be removed and the road returned to normal later this afternoon.”

“Significant” delays were reported in the area on Thursday with bus service also affected.

One driver reported it had taken them an hour to travel 1.8 miles due to the traffic.

Speaking previously, SGN thanked the Ferndown community for its continued understanding and patience during the works.
