A CHARITY is continuing its expansion with the opening of a new shop in Bournemouth this summer.

Dorset-based Prama, which supports older people at home and in the community, will open its 11th shop in Seamoor Road, Westbourne, in July.

The charity already has shops across Bournemouth, Christchurch, Poole and east Dorset – as well as Dorset’s second super charity store.

Aaron Head, head of retail, said the latest venture is firmly based on the convenient location on the busy Westbourne high street.

He said: “When we look at new locations it has to be easy for people to donate, we love our new Westbourne site because you can just drive around to the back of the shop and drop off your donations.

“We are so grateful to everyone who donates clothes, electricals and furniture to our charity.

“Our shops are reliant on people being generous and thinking about Prama charity shops when they are having a clear out, if it's just a couple of books, or a full house clearance we are always happy to accept donations.”

He added charity shops are facing the same challenges with the national cost of living crisis and that the demand for their work is increasing.

“It’s vital for our work, supporting older people locally that we fundraise through our charity shops and use the proceeds from our PramaCare domiciliary services to deliver our brilliant services.

“From clubs and groups for older people and their carers, specific support for those with dementia, to helping people settle at home after a hospital stay on behalf of the NHS, we are finding demand for our work is growing daily.”
