THE anniversary tour of an iconic album known for featuring in The Exorcist is set to come to Bournemouth.
Arranged by Robin A Smith, Mike Oldfield's music will be played at Bournemouth Pavilion on September 21 during the Tubular Bells 50th-anniversary celebration tour.
Originally released on May 25, 1973, the iconic music is synonymous with its use in the horror film The Exorcist, and the album is credited with helping Richard Branson to build the Virgin brand.
The album is said to be the highest-selling instrumental album of all time.
Long-term collaborator Robin A Smith will be arranging an expansive live group for the tour.
“Along with the musicians, it’s a real privilege to be performing this extraordinary work,” Robin said.
“It’s as fresh today as it was when Mike created it in 1971 - and I love having the chance to bring it to new audiences as well as those who, like me, are still captivated by it whenever they hear it.
“The wonderful thing about Tubular Bells is that it never seems to age.
“We’ve had plenty of tears from the audience and so many wonderful stories of their first experience with Tubular Bells.”
The show also features other works by Mike, including Moonlight Shadow. Tickets are available on Mike Oldfield’s website.
