Forensic officers are on the scene again this morning.

Resident Richard Marson said: “It’s so sad. Shocking really. It’s just so sad.”

“Forensics were there until 11 o clock at night last night. We took some flowers down and laid them on the wall down there.

"We put them down there about midnight.”

The property remains cordoned off and police are also in attendance this morning.

Another resident said: "It''s always shocking my when something like that happens, especially when it’s a neighbour."

Kevin Hough said: "It’s just shocking really. You don’t believe that it’s happened."

"We took some flowers down there last night."

Another resident added: "When we went out yesterday morning there was a car there that they took away yesterday night. And that was it.

"Then we came back about 12ish and we couldn’t get down to our driveway.

"Then we got a police man knock at the door asking if we’d heard anything, there’d been an incident over the road. About 11 o’clock last night they took that car away.

"It’s a shock, you don’t expect that."

The woman’s family has been informed and the arrested man was taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries he had sustained.

Police say the man and woman are known to each other.
