A HISTORIC ‘fantasy-like’ Dorset cottage with links to James Bond is open for holiday getaway bookings.
The grade II listed Stockford Lodge near Wareham curves round a single-stack chimney and sits in a two-acre woodland setting.
This cottage is believed to have belonged to the family whose ancestor was said to have helped inspire Ian Fleming in creating the character of James Bond.
The family of John Bond, an Elizabethan secret agent, had the motto "Non Sufficit Orbis" - The World Is Not Enough – and were based on the Isle of Purbeck where Fleming went to prep school.
It was also the hideaway of bohemian artist Augustus John.
The thatched roof house itself has several intriguing features, including a trellised porch with a Gothic-style door and windows.
Stockford Lodge sleeps up to 4 guests with prices for seven-night stays starting from £24pppn (£670 total). Visit Dorset Coastal Cottages online to book.
