POLICE have launched an investigation into a crash which left a cyclist seriously injured after he went through the window of a fish and chip shop in Bournemouth.

The man, aged in his 40s, has been taken to hospital following the incident in Springbourne.

The crash happened at the junction of Holdenhurst Road and Cleveland Road at around 9am on Saturday, April 22.

Police said the cyclist took “evasive actions” to avoid a vehicle and as a result sustained injuries.

Police have now issued an appeal for anyone who witnessed to incident or may have dashcam footage to contact them as part of their investigation.

Police Constable Mark Burton, of the Roads Policing Team, said: “We are investigating the full circumstances of the collision and I would ask anyone who witnessed the incident and has not spoken with police yet to please get in touch.

“Also, I would ask motorists who were travelling in the area with a dashcam fitted to their vehicle to please check for any footage to help my enquiries to establish what exactly happened.”

Five police officers and multiple officers attended the incident.

Witnesses also reported seeing an air ambulance land at Kings Park. 

The junction of Cleveland Road and Holdenhurst Road was closed following the crash and reopened shortly before 12pm.
