ARMED police carried out an operational activity in Bournemouth on behalf of London’s Metropolitan Police.

Multiple armed police were seen along the beachfront at Durley Chine on Thursday afternoon.

Officers in four marked and unmarked Volvo 4x4s were patrolling the seafront, in the Durley Chine Road South car park.

A police dog unit and ambulance were also spotted in the area.

Bournemouth Echo:

Dorset Police said they were carrying out arrest enquiries on behalf of the Metropolitan Police.

However, the Met would not reveal full details of what happened.

A spokesman for the force said: “Officers were carrying out operational activity in the area as part of an ongoing investigation.

“We are not commenting further at this time but we’ll share further details when we can.”

Beachgoers enjoying a walk in the afternoon sun were left surprised at the sudden police presence which included armed officers with guns.
