A TALENTED artist has opened up his own home to become a public art gallery.

Laurie Phillips, the joint founder of Mudeford Arts, has bedecked his home with more than 100 pieces of his own artwork created over a 50-year period.

The 80-year-old self-taught artist has named the project ‘Gallery 11’ within his residence in Viking Way which boasts views of Mudeford Quay.

Visitors can view the gallery by appointment only with a maximum of four adults at a time when the gallery opens in early May and admission is free.

To make a booking, call 01425 280280. Those on the first 20 tours will get the opportunity to win a raffle with a prize of a sunset painting worth £600 in a draw to be held later in the year.

Laurie, who is a grandfather of four, will showcase art ranging from paintings of landscapes to wildlife and famous faces.

He and his wife Estelle have lived in Mudeford for more than 35 years and were original founding members of the Mudeford Arts Festival, an annual summer event that creates a space for local artists to share their work.
