A MAN from the New Forest has been ordered to pay hundreds of pounds for littering a cigarette butt in a city centre.
Stuart Boyt, aged 31, was alleged to have thrown down, dropped or otherwise deposited the cigarette and left it in Above Bar Street, Southampton, on October 20, 2022.
The offence against Boyt, whose address was given as South Street, Pennington, was provided against him under the single justice procedure.
At a behind closed doors sitting at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court, the defendant was fined £220.
He was ordered to pay an £88 surcharge and £168.75 in relation to the prosecution, which was brought by Southampton City Council. Boyt's total bill to pay was £476.75.
