A MAN has been arrested following a hit and run in Bournemouth which left a woman with life threatening head injuries.

Emergency services were called to Redhill Park at around 9am on Tuesday morning for a collision involving a Toyota RAV4 and a female pedestrian in her 30s.

The woman, who was pushing a pram at the time, was airlifted to Southampton General Hospital with a life-threatening head injury.

The baby was taken to hospital as a precaution, but did not sustain any injuries.

It is alleged that the driver of the car, a 38-year-old man from the New Milton area in Hampshire, did not stop at the scene.

Following enquiries by Dorset Police, he has been arrested on suspicion of driving offences.
