Former Bournemouth resident Millie Bobby Brown has announced that she is engaged to her boyfriend of two-and-a-half years, Jake Bongiovi.

The 19-year-old is best known for her role as Eleven in the Netflix series Stranger Things and spent part of her childhood in Bournemouth.

She announced the news in a post on Instagram, with a monochrome picture of her and Jake together with her engagement ring on.

In the post, she wrote: "I've loved you three summers now, honey, I want 'em all."

Meanwhile, Jake, who is the son of the singer Jon Bon Jovi, also shared an announcement post on his own page, simply writing 'forever' alongside two snaps of the couple.

Many people posted messages of congratulations on Millie's post, including singer Pixie Lott who wrote: "Omg!!!! Congratulations you two so happpy for you eeeee".

Jessica Wright also wrote: "Ommmmggggg congratulations!!!!!!!!! @milliebobbybrown this is amazing. So so happy for you darling".

The account for the clothing brand Annie's Ibiza also commented: "This is so cute I’m crying so happy for you both !!! LOVE YOU BOTH."

Millie Bobby Brown's childhood in Bournemouth

Millie is believed to have lived in the Winton area when she was younger and attended primary school in the area before her family moved to Florida when she was eight.

She was born in Spain and was raised by parents Robert, a former estate agent, and her mother Kelly.

Millie has an older sister, Paige, and a brother, Charlie.

As well as starring in Stranger Things, Millie has also appeared as the title character of Enola Holmes in two Netflix films and has featured in two MonsterVerse films in Godzilla: King of Monsters and Godzilla vs Kong.
