IT WAS on ‘on your barks, get set, go!’ in Upton this morning as more than 100 people joined their dogs in the inaugural Muddy Dog Dash.
Taking place in Upton Country Park on Sunday, March 26, more than 130 dogs and people took part in an obstacle course through the park.
Tackling ramps, muddy ditches, tyre runs, weave poles, ball pits, hurdles, wooden dog houses and tunnels, the event was held to raise money for Lewis-Manning Hospice Care and covers either a 2km or 4km course.
So far, £2,600 has been raised on the JustGiving page – although this number will rise when additional sponsorships are totalled.
Ruth Wright, area fundraiser for Lewis-Manning Hospice Care, said: “There are all sorts of fantastic goodies on offer for the dogs, the first 100 runners get a free T-shirt and every dog gets a bandana.
“We’ve had an incredible amount of support for all our supporters, including our sponsors Barrett Homes, and our volunteers.
“This event will be coming back to Upton Country Park so anybody wishing to volunteer next year please do get involved.”
Three competitions were also run, including one for the highest fundraiser, one for the best dressed and another for the muddiest dog.
