WORK on a council housing scheme on the site of a former care home in Bournemouth is not set to resume until the height of summer.
Progress on the delivery of 27 flats on land which was previously home to Templeman House in East Howe ground to a halt in September last year when contractor W Stirland entered administration.
BCP Council needs to find a new contract to pick up the scheme and complete the development of a four-storey housing block.
The project will see 16 one-bed and 11 two-bed flats provided.
Before issues arose with W Stirland, BCP Council expected the redevelopment of the Leedam Road site to be ready for social renters in spring this year.
However, the local authority said at least 12 months more work is required from the new contractor.
A tender for the work was published online by the council on March 20, closing to applications on April 28.
The value of the contract is said to be between £4million and £4.3million, with a start date of July 1 and an end date of September 30 next year.
The Templeman House care home building has already been demolished and the site is fenced off while work progresses on finding the new contractor.
