A WATER company has advised its customers not to worry if water comes out of taps as yellow.

Residents in parts of Bournemouth and Christchurch are being advised their water may come out as yellow.

Bournemouth Water said the change is due to the rainfall and poor weather conditions of late, which has resulted in an increased colour in the river which supplies the Knapp Mill Water Treatment Works.

The utilities company has reassured people that the water would be “fine” to continue to use as normal and that they will update customers if the situation changes.

A Bournemouth Water spokeswoman said: “Due to continued rain and poor weather conditions in the Christchurch and Bournemouth areas, some customers may notice a slight change in the colour of their tap water.

“The recent rainfall has resulted in increased colour in the river that supplies the Knapp Mill Water Treatment Works.

“We’d like to reassure customers that we are monitoring the situation closely and that the water is fine to continue to use as normal.

“We will keep customers updated and we would like to thank them for their patience.”

Yellow water was an issue for residents in Bournemouth and Christchurch in November last year.
