THE Breastfeeding Network Dorset is looking for mums to train as breastfeeding peer supports and to volunteer across the county supporting parents.

The network is commissioned by Public Health Dorset, and it provides families with information and support.

The training available is fully funded, and gives mums the opportunity to gain an OCN accredited level 2 qualification.

After qualifying, they will then volunteer in the community, offering support and information, as well as a safe space and a community.

Volunteers receive regular supervision sessions, and the opportunity to complete further training, too.

The next course is running from April 20 for 12 weeks. It involves one two hour session per week, online, via Zoom.

The network is looking for volunteers to take the course in Somerford, Weymouth, Blandford, Wareham/Bovington, Dorchester, Sherborne and Boscombe.

Ashley Gallimore, Breastfeeding Network Dorset service manager, said: “Our service relies on our amazing volunteers to support parents, and our training courses really equip our volunteers to do this.

“The OCN accreditation means that our volunteers are gaining a qualification and valuable experience whilst also doing something they’re all so passionate about. We’re so excited to expand our team of volunteers.”
