A REFURBISHED café has opened at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital.

The upgraded atrium café forms a part of the transformation of the catering facilities at University Hospital Dorset’s sites.

All profits from the café are reinvested in patient care.

The café has a new layout and menu, featuring a range of hot and cold drinks with a range of snacks, including gluten free and vegan products.

Bournemouth Echo:

Staff at the hospital will soon be able to benefit from a fast-track lunch ‘grab and go’ option, to minimise pressure on front counter services.

Stuart Willes, UHD’s head of operations and facilities said: “The refurbishment of the atrium café is part of a major transformation of our catering services - all designed to provide a range of modern, high-street standard retail facilities for patients, visitors and staff.

Bournemouth Echo:

“We’ve been delighted with the support on our reopening day – the team have been amazing, and it was a bonus to welcome Siobhan Harrington, our chief executive, to serve one of our first coffees."

There will be further transformation work going on in the hospital’s Oasis and Shelley restaurants over the coming months.
