POLICE have launched an investigation after a woman was reportedly raped by a man she had met earlier that evening in Poole.
Dorset Police detectives are continuing to make enquiries in relation to the incident, which took place sometime on the evening of Saturday, March 4, into the early hours of Sunday, March 5.
A cordon was in place with uniformed officers and marked police cars in the area of Harbourside Walk and Fisherman's Dock in Ballard Road on Sunday morning.
A force spokesman said: “Dorset Police received a report at 5.16am on Sunday, March 5, that a woman had been raped by a man she had met earlier that evening in the area of Ballard Road in Poole.
“The victim is being supported by officers and detectives from Bournemouth CID are carrying out a detailed investigation into this incident.
“Local officers can be approached by members of the community with information or concerns.”
