A HISTORIC pub is looking pianists to play its newly refurbished baby grand piano to get its punters singing.

The new owners of rhe Elm Tree pub in Hightown Road, Ringwood, have refurbished the piano gifted to them before they took over the 16th century pub by Venables Pianos.

Piano restorer Will Venables felt the pub was a perfect setting for the historic piece.

Now, every Wednesday, anyone who can play is invited to ‘open keys’ at The Elm Tree.

Deborah Risbridger, who co-owns the pub with her husband Paul, said: “It’s such a lovely piece, we’d love to see it used regularly. We would like any enthusiastic amateurs or professionals to play to a captive, receptive audience.

“It might help build confidence for people starting out or re-invigorate anyone who has let skills lapse. I’d love to see people singing along like pubs in times gone by.”

Anyone interested in playing for the pub is invited to turn up on any Wednesday from midday.
