A BOURNEMOUTH-based cheerleading club is celebrating a clean sweep at a regional cheerleading competition.
Dorset’s largest cheerleading programme, Bournemouth Elite, have returned from their first competition of the year with every Grand Champion trophy and every first place spot too.
The cheerleading programme has just under 200 athletes, starting from as young as three years old to adults in their 30s.
Out of the 12 teams at Bournemouth Elite, seven went to compete at the ICC Western competition in Bath earlier this month.
Every team won a first place spot from the Icicles, aged nine to 11, to Hail aged 15 plus.
The following teams also secured a Grand Champion title, alongside their win: Icicles - Tiny Mini Youth Grand Champions, Aqua - Junior Grand Champions, Weather Girls - Senior 1-3 Grand Champions, Hail - Senior 4-6 Grand Champions.
Zoe Dehnert, head coach of Bournemouth Elite, said: “It’s never happened to us before so we are really privileged and really lucky and everyone knows that we just need to keep working hard to make sure that we can maintain good results.
“It won’t always happen, there could be another competition where you don’t do as well but at the moment they’re definitely on a high from doing so well.”
The teams are now preparing for the Future Cheer Internationals, the biggest cheerleading competition in Europe, which will be taking place in Bournemouth this June.
Bournemouth Elites’ world championship team, Hail, currently hold the position of fourth in the world for cheerleading.
As the Bournemouth Echo previously reported in January, Bournemouth Elite are currently looking for a new home in which to train.
