A SWIMMING teacher from Bournemouth has been crowned teacher of the year in a national award.
Jackie Adams, who teaches at the BHLive pool in Littledown, has received the inaugural award from Level Water – a national charity providing one-to-one swimming lessons to children with disabilities.
The parents of Jackie’s students praised her for her “impressive communication style”, for always “bringing out the best” in her students and enabling them to reach their “full potential”.
Jackie began her Level Water teaching in Cambridge, where she was volunteering on general disability lessons, before being asked by the pool if she would like to work with the charity.
Laura Daly, senior swimming academy co-ordinator at BHLive Littledown, said: “Jackie is one of the most caring and dedicated swimming teachers there is.
“You can see she thoroughly enjoys teaching children how to swim and gets great enjoyment out of watching them progress.
“Jackie and her Level Water swimmers have a great trusting relationship, where the approach that Jackie uses is of a kind, calm and personalised nature, where the swimmer feels they are valued and can achieve their goals.
“Jackie is undoubtedly a well-deserving recipient of this award and we are very proud of her.”
