A MAIN road in Verwood has been closed for emergency works.

The B3081 in Verwood has been closed by Wessex Water so emergency sewerage works can take place, at the junction with Virginia Close.

The company will be excavating the road to repair a burst rising main.

The works are scheduled to be completed on Friday, February 24.

A Wessex Water spokesperson said: “We’re carrying out emergency sewerage repairs near Virginia Close with a road closure in place on the B3081.

“We’re working throughout the weekend to try and complete the repair as quickly as possible so the road can reopen.

"We’re sorry for any inconvenience caused.”

Bus operator Morebus said due to the closure, its X6 service will be unable to serve stops between Woodlinken Drive and Ashley Heath in both directions.
